FORT WORTH, TEXAS — In Boulder, nationwide, and in the hours leading up to Colorado taking the field at Amon G. Carter Stadium against №. 17 TCU, there has been an immense amount of anticipation to see what Deion Sanders can do coaching in a Power Five conference.
While the lights are bright and the pressure is on, Coach Prime isn’t worried about his coined name being too much to handle.
“Talking about a big stage, I think I played in the Super Bowl and the World Series, I’m good,” Sanders said with a laugh. “This is about the kids, man, and I want them to go out there and maximize the moment and take advantage of the exposure and the light that they have. And I feel like they will 100%.”
It won’t be an easy first game as Prime and the Buffs take on last season’s National Championship runner-up to complete a home-and-home series that saw the Horned Frogs cruise to a 38–13 win at Folsom Field a year ago. A loss that was the beginning of the end for the Karl Dorrell era in Boulder and a nearly complete overhaul of both the roster and coaching staff that is taking the field Saturday and moving forward in the 2023 campaign.
With a lot of excitement revolving around the team and the University of Colorado community, there are also media and fan bases across the country doubting what the Buffs' abilities are this season. Earlier this week, Coach Prime spoke to the media about the confidence he has in his team on both sides of the ball.
“These kids are ready. We prepare them not just athletically, we prepare them mentally for things and challenges that’s going to happen in life as well.” Sanders continued, “I like what I see on a daily basis, I really do. Matter of fact, I love these kids.”
Coach Prime claimed he “ain’t hard to find,” now it’s time to show that he is hard to miss.
University of Colorado takes on Texas Christian University on Fox at 10 a.m. Mountain time.
