The Colorado soccer team has been on a tear the last five games, in large part due to the stellar play of Jordan Nytes.
Early Wednesday, Nytes was awarded with the Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week. She has previously won this award, once as a freshman in 2022 with Oklahoma State, twice last year as the Pac-12 goalkeeper of the week and once earlier this year.
The highly talented Colorado native has started every game for the Buffs (28) since she has been at Boulder and has played all but 25 minutes in those games. Nytes has been a force in goal for the black and gold.
The Buffs are currently on a five-game win streak heavily due to Nytes' ability to keep opponents out of the net in all of those games. In that stretch, Colorado outscored its opponents 11-1, as backup goalkeeper Jamie Campbell allowed the only goal against the Buffaloes.
Nytes has been accustomed to this type of play since she was a freshman. In her first year of collegiate soccer, she made 58 saves in 17 games and ended the season with the best Big 12 save percentage (84.1%).
After an amazing freshman season, Nytes transferred back home to Colorado. From the first minute Nytes stepped in goal, the Buffaloes improved. In her first year as a Buff, she tallied eight shutouts, 73 saves and a save percentage of 80.2%.
Through seven games this season, Nytes ranks second in the Big 12 in shutouts (five) and in save percentage (92.1%). She ranks fourth in saves per game (five) and second in total saves with 35.
Nytes and the Buffaloes look to keep up their dominating start as conference play starts this week.
On Thursday, the Buffs play the Kansas State Wildcats in Manhattan, Kansas at 6 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
