Former Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball star Tristan da Silva has been selected for the 2025 NBA Rising Stars, which will be held on Feb. 14 during All-Star weekend in San Francisco, California.

The rookie forward was named alongside some of the best young talents in the league to a 28-player pool who will compete in a mini-tournament. The player pool consists of 10 rookies, 11 second-year players, and seven G-League players.

After being selected No. 18 overall by the Orlando Magic in the 2024 NBA Draft, da Silva has appeared in 44 games with 34 starts this season, averaging 8.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

Da Silva burst onto the scene on Nov 1 with 17 points in his first game without star Magic forward Paolo Banchero. The 6-foot-8 native of Germany has played in every game since and showcased his talent, scoring the eighth-most total points of any rookie this year.

During his four seasons at Colorado (2020-2024), da Silva became a stellar leader. He averaged 16 points, five rebounds, and two assists to help CU push for a run in last year's NCAA Tournament. Two former Buffs, KJ Simpson with the Charlotte Hornets and Cody Williams with the Utah Jazz, have also seen some minutes in the league this season as rookies.

The Rising Stars tourney will consist of four seven-player teams, in which the winner will earn a spot in the NBA All-Star Game tournament.
