Kansas State running back Dylan Edwards, Colorado’s leading rusher in 2023, is set to return to Folsom Field this weekend as the Colorado Buffaloes (4-1, Big 12 2-0) face off against the sophomore and the No. 18 Kansas State Wildcats (4-1, Big 12 1-1).
A Kansas native, Edwards decided to transfer back home, where he was named the 2021-2022 Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year, despite posting a solid freshman season. Last year, he finished his freshman season with the Buffaloes rushing for 321 yards and 299 receiving yards with five total touchdowns, three of which against TCU in his debut. He was the first player in the Buffaloes’ history to reach the 250-yard mark in both rushing yards and receiving yards in the same season. Still, he took his talents to the transfer portal.
Despite Edwards being a Wildcat and not a Buffalo anymore, CU head coach Deion Sanders still has a lot of praise and respect for him.
“I love the young man,” Sanders said. “I love him to life. Everybody who leaves here in the right manner, I want them to be successful. I have never wished wrongful or bad things on any young man or woman in my life or on any of you all. I want you to be successful, and I want you to find your purpose."
Sanders also pointed out the main focus will be to win the game, and that it's not about the past connections.
Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman talked about Edwards’ excitement for this game.
“I know he’s excited about the opportunity,” Klieman said.
So far this season, Edwards has 201 rushing yards, 37 receiving yards and a total of three touchdowns with Kansas State. He will look to add to his sophomore campaign against the Buffaloes this weekend.
On Saturday, the Colorado Buffaloes take on the No. 18 Kansas State Wildcats at Folsom Field. The game is at 8:15 MT and will be aired on ESPN.
