AUSTIN, Texas – The Colorado Buffaloes women’s golf team placed ninth at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational on Tuesday. The squad shot a combined 78-over in the tournament, their worst score of the season by 57 strokes.

Colorado was not the only school to struggle in Austin. The hosting Texas Longhorns won the tournament with a score of 16-over. Lauren Kim led the Longhorns with a score of 1-over and finished first individually out of 78 golfers.

Senior Maria Eidhagen Harroch led the Buffs in Austin, shooting 13-over. The Swede sat in a tie for third on the individual leaderboard heading into the third round. Harrouch shot 12-over on her final day dropping 13 spots on the leaderboard.

Sydney Givens finished at No. 25 individually with a score of 16-over. The freshman played her best round in the third, shooting 3-over. Playing in her hometown, Givens holed only four birdies all tournament compared to 15 bogeys.

Unfortunately for the Buffs, their third-round struggles continued in Texas. Colorado shot a combined 33-over in the third round, 10 strokes more than its first or second-round scores.

Junior Morgan Miller shot 26-over. She stayed close to even through the front nine of the first round but shot 8-over on the back nine. Miller had her best round in the second, when she shot a hole-in-one on the second hole. The miraculous shot did not result in a momentum shift though, as the junior shot six bogeys on her next seven holes.

Freshman Ellen O’Shaughnessy shot 6-over in the first round. She shot 10-over and 13-over in the second and third rounds, respectively. Her high scores in the last two rounds were dropped off the Buffs’ team scorecard. O’Shaughnessy finished 29-over.

Carolyn Fuller had an abysmal first round. The sophomore shot 16-over with 10 bogeys and three double bogeys. Fuller cut down a few strokes in the second round, shooting 9-over. The Phoenix native was at even par through the front nine of the final round but still managed to finish 8-over in the round.

The Buffs should keep their heads held high, considering the Arkansas Razorbacks and Texas (ranked No. 2 and No. 7 nationally) also shot unusual scores.

Colorado’s last tournament before the Big 12 Championships is the Chevron Silverado Showdown in Napa, California, starting on April 7.
