Colorado Men’s Cross Country moves up to No. 17 in national poll

The Colorado Buffaloes men’s cross country team moved up to No. 17 in the U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA)’s second poll of the 2024 season.

The Buffs moved up from No. 21 over the past week after a statement performance last Thursday at the Nuttycombe invitational in Madison, Wisconsin. Only the men’s team participated in the meet.

Through the first three polls of the season, Colorado has been in the top 25 every week.. The Buffs went back to moving up in the rankings after falling in the first week from their initial No. 21 spot in the pre-season poll.

So far, Colorado has participated in three meets, with their most recent performance in Madison being the program best so far this season. Most impactful for the Buffs were Wilson Georges and Christopher Cherry, who placed 6th and 8th respectively in the Men’s 8K B Championship.

The Nuttycombe invitational was Colorado’s third and final meet of the regular season.

Next up, the black and gold will be back in Madison on Oct. 19 to compete in pre-nationals.

Later down the road, Colorado will compete in their first Big-12 championship on Nov. 1 – the first meet for the cross country program since rejoining the conference.

The Buffs last competed in the Big-12 championship in the departing 2010 season. In that meet, Colorado finished 2nd out of the twelve participating programs.
