SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Colorado Buffaloes women’s golf squad finished third at the Causeway Invitational this week with a final score of 6-over.
Morgan Miller was the only Buff to shoot under par throughout the tournament. The Texas native finished 2-under and tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard. The junior tied her season-low score and took her first top-10 finish of 2024-25.
Freshman Sydney Givens and sophomore Carolyn Fuller trailed right behind Miller. Both golfers shot 1-over in the tournament and tied for ninth place.
The freshman was 2-over heading into the third round. Her 1-under final round score bumped her 12 spots up on the podium, the highest jump by a Buff in Sacramento. Over her last six rounds, Givens has shot even par twice, 1-over twice, 1-under and 3-over.
Fuller was the most consistent golfer wearing the black and gold this week, finishing the first two rounds at even par and posting a 1-over 73 in the final round.
Senior Maria Eidhagen Harrouch and sophomore Vanessa Ngo had similar scores throughout the three rounds and were in the mix heading into the third round. Unfortunately for Colorado, neither Buff could muster much offense in the final round. They combined for 12 bogeys, two double bogeys and two birdies. Ngo and Harrouch both shot 7-over in the third round and dropped 20 spots on the individual leaderboard to No. 38 and No. 41, respectively.
Ellen O’Shaughnessy competed as an individual at this tournament. The Dublin native was the only Buff to shoot under par in the first round (-2). The freshman was tied for fifth place after her strong first-round performance. However, O’Shaughnessy was unable to keep up the stellar play, shooting 4-over in the second round and 8-over in the third. The below-average play in the last two rounds caused her to drop 23 spots on the podium to No. 44.
All five Buffs in the quintet shot a combined 4-over in round one, 1-over in round two and 12-over in round three. Poor third-round scores have been a pattern for Colorado all season and have held them back from higher finishes.
The black and gold need to ditch their third-round nerves by the time the Big 12 tournament rolls around to have a chance to compete with the best teams in the conference.
The Buffs have three weeks off before they head to Austin, Texas to compete in the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational.
