Resulting from two stellar shutout performances against solid Wyoming and Michigan teams last week, Colorado Buffaloes’ junior goalkeeper Jordan Nytes has been awarded the honor of co-Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week.
Nytes is no stranger to national recognition; in fact, this is the sixth such award she’s tallied between two competitive conferences after recording two Pac-12 honors during her freshman season at Oklahoma State. She currently leads the Big 12 for saves so far this season, with an impressive 89.3% save rate. Her twenty-five saves to date have also earned her the eleventh spot in the country for total saves.
Head coach Danny Sanchez looks forward to seeing her in a leadership role as captain this year with the Buffs looking to extend its winning streak on the road.
This is the first weekly honor received by a CU athlete since the Buffs returned to the conference after a fourteen-year hiatus, boding well for the women’s soccer team. Offensively, Colorado has also gotten off to a hot start–leading the Big 12 with twelve goals in its first four games.
Look to watch the Buffs in action Thursday night as they travel to Greensboro, North Carolina to take on the UNC Greensboro Spartans. The game kicks off at 5 p.m. MT on ESPN+.
